Going much more "raw" in my Raw Series, "Untitled May 2022" is basic black on white. Organic marks and shapes in stark black on a worn white background make a very interesting statement that demands attention.
Balanced, unusual and minimal, this painting screams abstract. My application process consistently offers unpredictable variations on my lines and marks, adding to the discovery experience of both me as the artist and the viewer.
Interestingly, this was painted onto the backside of an old practice work I was using to develop a commissioned piece for a customer. (So you'll get a two-sided painting, of which the other side will be a surprise!)
I applied a haphazard layer of gesso onto this purposely leaving parts of the canvas nude, adding additional interest to the painting.
