As I move away from the "rawness" of my Raw Series, there are elements from it that are incorporated into the recent pieces I've been working on.  Desolate landscapes with moody skies sum up this and a few of my latest works.

The lines which delineate the horizon as well as the composition of the land are a direct result of what I'd been working with in the Raw Series.  The sky, with its purples, gray-blues and earth tones which denote a storm is coming, or is here, is simply fun to create.  And that's really what it's all about on my end.  I love these scenes.  Treeless plains with nothing but distance and sky remind me of my drives through Kansas.  Many people are quick to describe the terrain there as boring, but I find a serious beauty in its apparent emptiness.  Desolate beauty is how I describe the western half of Kansas, and a good part of eastern Colorado.  Can you imagine mountains on the horizon?  Maybe. 

This is a big piece.  The sides are 1/5" deep and painted white.  The price includes shipping in the continental US and Canada.  Local buyers get the added shipping costs taken off the price.
