Homes

Urban sprawl is the subject du jour.  A large acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas with the painting spilling over onto the 1.5" sides, Homes is a simple, understated and somewhat muted take on another new suburb popping up in a neighborhood near you.  Trees are knocked down, vegetation eliminated and houses are installed like boxes in a field.  Note the similarity of the homes.  Three styles to choose from.  Big red, small yellow and mid sized blue.  All come standard with builder grade carpet, but can be upgraded for a large fee.  Been there, done that.

I painted this in December of 2021 and set it aside to live with it a while.  In fact, it's hung in my home for quite some time.  I decided it didn't need additional work, so here it is in its original form.  This is a calming piece with lovely primary tones.  A mottled background with a specific horizon sets the stage for our new neighborhood.  Homes set in outlines represent completed construction.  Colors without defining lines hint at those still under construction.
