Not every painting has a story behind it. In fact, most of mine don't. I pick the color palette that I want to work with, put down a background color or colors, and go from there. Sometimes the background consists of nothing but markings, other times just a couple blobs of color. Usually the background is nearly obscured, or completely transformed as I move forward with what I'm feeling from what's happening on the canvas.

I get a sense of location from this painting, like it's a place somewhere. You?

The paint on this piece was applied with hard rubber brayers. Lines and shapes were drawn with pencil and charcoal.
