The neutrals I've been working with lately have always had a feel of something organic. A customer recently said "granite" to describe a purchase they'd made. I agree. My initial reaction was always stone of some sort. Of course the colors lend themselves to it, but so does the pattern. Especially this piece, Earthen.

Many coats of paint, much water, lots of application with rags and palette knives, and fingers, of course. Add, remove, add, remove, add, etc., this one took longer than usual to complete, almost a week. I'm happy with it and that's what counts. You?
