As I was creating work for my Raw series, things slowly moved away from "rawness" and more towards the simple square or quadrilateral shape as the primary focal point. I'd painted a similar piece to this called "Light Undersea" which sold, but featured white light emanating from the deep blue sea. I left this as is to let the sea and the shape make the statement.

Buoyancy typically refers to floating in some manner. I think of it more as a feeling of lightness or even happiness where people are concerned. Yes, this painting appears to depict the literal meaning, but its more than that. Think about it as you enjoy the amazing blues and hints of red in this watery piece.
