Harkening back to something I'd done back in 2018 - 2019, Animation is one of those pieces that gets massaged and massaged until I decide it's complete. Green obviously is the primary palette, but it's what's on top that ties it together. Sort of. ;-)
A busy piece with movement galore, Animation is a seriously fun piece, and I see myself making a much, much larger version. Pollock-esque? Absolutely, but only to a degree. The background greens and yellows were applied with brayers and rags. The layers upon layers of lines were applied with bottles of high flow acrylics, them worked with brayers to get the desired flattening and repeated patterns.
As with the bulk of my work over the years, Animation is another piece that studies humankind's affect on it's place in the natural world. Our home is represented in green and yellow. Our footprint, the black and the white. And again, how we perceive the footprint we've left is subjective. Are cities beautiful? Is a home in the country also a thing of beauty? Of course, it depends. Some would say yes, some would say no. You make the call.
