Abstract with Red and Blue

Getting lost in a field of color and line has been my theme of late and this piece, Abstract with Red and Blue is an excellent example.  My goal is to satisfy my creative eye.  Once I'm happy with the color scheme and presentation, I move on to adding my black accented lines and shapes.  Believe it or not, there is a method the madness, if you'll pardon the trite expression.

As an art student in high school here in St. Louis, I had the opportunity to be exposed to some truly interesting work by a pair of working artists who taught there.  Their work still inspires me to this day, some 50 years later.  This piece harkens back to one of their paintings my parents had purchased and hung in our home.  Although it was an abstract floral, the feel, texture and application are quite similar.  Of course my lines are my own.
